I don't use the inside mirror enough to care about the rear window, but on one of the CRX's, when I bought it, the wiper worked. I didn't use it for so long that moisture built up in the motor and froze it. As long as you clean your car once in awhile, you shouldn't have a problem, and airflow is attached there, so if you wax the glass, the water will sheet off fairly well.
Oh yeah with the air flowing right over that perfect window angle, with some rain-x it probably would not be a problem I didn't think of that...
