Time may be short but heres my plan.
We have a trip of 7hrs in october. If SHMBO will let me, i think I;m inspired to build a double hitch trailer for her Saturn Vue. I've got the plans mostly finished.
Single wheel as the trailer will taper in both directions. Temporary Kamm (she wont let me "mess up" her nice car) to get the air from the car to the trailer.
1 sheet of 1/2" ply will make the bottom and front. The 2 triangles from the bottom will be saved for a future belly taper for the trailer. 1 sheet 1/4" will make the sides and rear. 2 sheets of luan will make the hinged top. I think side hinging will pesent less stress to the top/cover. The rear wil be flat and just large enough for a plate and trailer light. Bed will be 6' over all just short of 8' per double hitch directives.
If this works, I'll post the plans. they should work for any small SUV or minivan.
