Gen 1 Isuzu Troopers with the 2.8L GM V6 briefly disengage a/c when throttle increases a given % - there's a "map" (as in, graphical representation of numerical plots) in the factory service manual for 1990-91 v6 troopers - but I think in their case it's for power since they're relatively short on it (120hp in a 3800lb brick)
I'm sure other cars must do it, since 2 of the cars i've owned do (or can) - i couldn't speculate on the exact reasons but the effect certainly is more useable power.
