You wouldn't be able to capitalize on it because of hack-a-day Ecomodders like the majority of the people on this site. We would crack the hardware of the units, make schematic diagrams of the innards, put the photos on a forum like this and have a DIY section on how to make the unit for $50. That's why, not saying that the company could make an IC that had proprietary information and design, but it would just be a matter of time before the above would happen.
