The HF tranny can be installed, but you'll have to switch to cable clutch, which isn't altogether hard. You could also re-clock the arm, twist it, cut off the excess, and then use the original slave cylinder on a custom bracket to push it, if that would make your life easier.
The VX should be a direct bolt-in, with maybe new mounts. IIRC, they didn't change the mounts too much... left them in the same places, I think.
