SC law says you can't have anything that blocks or obscures the plate and this would include tinted covers and wrap-around frames, but this law obviously isn't enforced very strictly. There's nothing in it specifically against clear covers, but I finally removed the clear cover over my plate to keep from giving the cops another excuse to pull me over (I had two of them pull me over for "obscured plate" on my boattail).
