Very good results thanks to ecomodder!

Hello everyone,

I've been reading the forum for sometime and was really impressed by the result achieved from some of the members. So I decided to use some of the technics described for hypermiling.

As you can see from my profile details I drive a 2002 Pug 206 (that stands for Peugeot ...i know, i know little known in US ) with a 1.4 l common rail turbo diesel engine which returns according to the EU standarts combined fuel usage 4.3/100 (54.7 MPG US) one of the most FE cars on the market.

The car is very light and when i was trying to drive FE was able to achieve my best 4.1/100 (57.37 MPG). However never able to return 3.6/100 (65.34 MPG) - the offical highway fuel consumption.

After reading the forum i decided to give a try, and you can see the results bellow 3.2/100 (73.34 MPG) out of my last full tank or 963 miles, and that is only the begining

Mods:

*lightly overinflated tyres +10% of the max side door numbers
*very slow and gentle acceleration
*5th gear over 30 mph if possible, no breaks if possible
*DFCO (no EOC because of the hydravlics on the steering wheel and brakes)
*DWL (personally my fouvarite hypermiling technic)
*A/C permanently off
*Chip tuned engine
*max speed under 70 mph
*low viscosity syntethic engine grade oil (5W30)

I am very happy with the results but I think that around 3/100 (78.4 MPG) I will "hit the wall" with the current set up. Moreover we have awful traffic jams in the cities and not enough high way routes.
Personally I find very difficult to deal when driving in a string out so it is very hard to apply the FE technics. Any advice or hints will be extremely welcome!

Thanks a lot for the great site and forum ... and keep hypermiling

Veselin
