Depending on your car's behavior, it might be as easy as jumpering the +BATT wire to the +ACC wire on the radio (terminating the +ACC wire to the vehicle, so it doesn't back-feed the rest of the circuit)
I just rebuilt the ignition switch (annoying slide-engagement mess) on my 92 Tempo and during starting, the +ACC circuit is disengaged entirely & re-engages when the key returns to RUN. I have to assume this behavior is typical.
The downside to bypassing the +ACC circuit for your radio is that it won't turn off by itself when you turn off the car entirely.
Personally I just leave the car running at stop lights and accept the fuel being burned as par for the course.
