I completely agree. to this day, it is becoming rare enough to bring prejudice from service people. It is to stand ground on common sense functions that work other than oem. I recently have been startled (once again) about my welding. Not a clue for some inspectors, no clue whatsoever, how far a person could go with oe appearance and a welder on the same oe body. Just screws and rivets are adding to it, not taking away. The lack of will to DIY like this is part of a bizarre extinctive phenomona I associate with childish inspectors and service people narrowing minds down to the quick pace of lack of ingenuity..and just giving up the cars they once owned and miss.
and that 356 is one of the worlds real legends, especially drivetrain.
