"Instant" values bounce around?

Are mpguinos supposed to have stable Instant MPH, MPG, GPH, etc, readings, under steady driving conditions?

I'm still adding code to my mpguino & havent wired it into my car yet. For my testing, it's running on dcb's signal generator, which I thought should provide the most stable inputs possible, but my numbers are quite jumpy.

GPH ranges from 2.01 - 2.37, MPH is 93-100 (no, i'm not using the default #defines ), MPG is 35-48, RPM is 5300-5800. My Current & Tank data are all rock steady; the problem is only with Instant. Somebody's post about GPH going "0.12 0.12 0.12 0.15 0.12 0.12 ..." made me wonder if actual - rather than simulated - driving would produce stable figures.

I'm guessing the problem is due to vss & injector pulses landing on random sides of the 1/2-second sample window. (?)
