Take some 1/4 plate and make a plate to run the bolts for the bottom of the driver side motor mount. Then make an identicl plate for the other side (inner fender side) then just clamp it to the flimsy sheet metal. Just increase your contact area as much as you can to keep it from giving way.
Now start cutting!
