Today... probably. But even if the diesel engined version hit the streets in 2013 when VW predicts it will (it won't), it'll have to compete with a number of conventional production electric vehicles all of which will be larger, more practical and less expensive to run per mile even at 170mpg. I'm sorry but anyone driving this thing 4 or 5 years from now will look foolish. The first gen Honda Insight with a much more conventional configuration and a lot more interior space than this thing was a sales failure. What makes you think anyone would want to buy this? Sure there is always a tiny market of extremists that go on FE related forums where they swap tips and ideas (
) but is that enough to justify putting this car into production? Get real.
On the plus side, I like that the roof was inspired by the Me109
