I did a little road trip to New York this past weekend from Baltimore and was quite happy with the results! On the way up, going the speed limit(65), I managed 39.4 mpg, I was shooting for 40, but hey, never achieved that kind of number before on such a long trip.
On the way back I got stuck in Soho traffic for about 90 minutes (I was following my GPS and realized too late where it was sending me!
) After that I didn't feel like eco-driving anymore, so I was doing 80/85 most of the way home (which was actually going with the flow traffic!!). Surprisingly I still stayed above EPA at 32.4 mpg (Highway EPA for my car is 30 mpg).
Despite the not so great return trip, I managed to do the trip on one tank which was my initial goal, so I'm quite happy, and after filling up, my average for the tank came too 36.5 mpg.
