I have worked in elevator shafts a lot.
Elevator tech is decades old, and most elevators
dump the braking energy into large ceramic load
banks and dump the heat to the air...
It takes
an act of god to change elevator control systems.
I wanted to put an electric eye in the shaft to display
then the elevator was at the floor, could not
get approval and it was not going to touch the
elevator in any way...
