Never dissected this one before, all my cars have had manual transmissions,
only the company cars had autos and I didn't really care about them like my own...

Dodges do this as well. It's a combination of crappy internals
and constant shifting between OD and high gears. Shifting means the clutches create heat due to friction and fluid shear.
I've never understood why they disable TC lock if you're not in OD, though. Makes no real sense, other than the extra weight (load) on the TCC might cause premature failure, if you're the typical driver.
I haul stuff around with 4 cylinders that most people "need" a V8 for, so I'm probably partial to non-idiocy, moreso than most.
