Generous radius on bodywork

The 250 'Redheads' Testa Rossa by Scaglietti was also called the 'pontoon' TRs because of aft portion of the front wheel wells are smoothly blended into the body sides. The intended function was to promote faster air flow through the front brakes and better engine cooling. But Ferrari quickly designed away from this controversial design. It's interesting to compare the aero numbers of the Scaglietti 'pontoon' design compared to the later 'conventional' Pinninfarina TR designs.

Earlier this year this particular TR model brought the new world record for the most expensive motor car to be sold at auction. The 1957 Ferrari 250 TR, chassis 0714TR was sold for Euro 9,020,000.
