@Madison: That was my first impression, too. Especially with the driveshaft through the rear glass. Some truck lover clearly had no respect for this "high-bird", as he would call it.
@OldMech: Yeah, maybe I should buy the whole thing, considering the cost of Insight parts. I would love to have supsension parts and engine sensors on the shelf, to sell or use myself. Too bad I don't have a garage.
@LeCouch: They let me go in the yard unsupervised. I actually spent two hours pulling parts, mostly the battery.
@Ryland: I'll pull the drums if I can, and then I'll see if anyone wants to buy them.
@Wonderboy: No, almost the parts I bought are going on my Insight. If you're serious about buying a salvage Insight, buy two. First buy one that was hit in the rear, and then buy a low-mileage frontal one to rebuild. Combine, then part out what's left. Should be doable on a $3k net budget, $4k cash outlay, and a lot of patience waiting for the right car to come along. Or get one with a dead battery, and I'll set you up with a refurbished battery.
I really can't tell how the car ended up in the yard. The body is in such good shape, it's just begging someone to come along and breathe life back in to it. Which I suppose I'm doing, sort of.
