vacuum gauge installed

Well, got the vacuum gauge installed today on the ford. Searched on the forum on how to use it and found some good info. I have seen them in cars before and I have seen my dad use them to trouble shoot before but never drove with one. Found out I was shifting WAY too early. Was under the impression the quicker I got through the gears without lugging, the better mpg but guess I was wrong there! Now I'm real curious on how much my mileage will improve when I master the vacuum gauge info.

Why is a Vacuum/boost gauge cheaper then a plain old simple vacuum guage? The vacuum/boost gauges where 27 bucks. Everyone quoted me 45-60 bucks for just a simple vacuum gauge and would have to order it. Finally bought one at Harbor Freight for 20 bucks. Way cheaper then anyone else in town. Not a high quality one but seems to work well and is lighted.
