There is an article on the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 in the eco-issue of Auto Motor i Sport (2/2009). One of the first sentences is "Since [Peugeot] doesn't send its cars to the US, it doesn't have to worry about the American market not being too keen on diesel engines". As this forum has noticed, many Americans still think that diesel=smokey bus or truck. But I believe that the time is coming, even the Big Three produce a diesel prototype every now and then.
More info from the article:
- The 3008 Hybrid has an EV-only mode, with a maximum range of up to 4.5km, but in real driving probably won't be more than 3km.
- The Hybrid4 weighs 120kg more than the normal diesel powered version and costs 2500Euros more.
- The 2 liter diesel engine's power is 163hp (120kW) and has 300Nm of torque.
- The electric is 27kW (37hp) with 100Nm of torque.
- Transmission is 6-speed automatic.
- Max speed 209 km/h (130mph).
- 0-100 km/h (0-62.5mph) in 8.8 s.
- Average fuel consumption 4.1 l/100km (57 mpgUS).
- CO2 emissions 104 g/km.
