I have a 95 Honda Civic with the D16Z6 VTEC engine, and have been dismayed that it's been at the top of the list for years. One thing is that being OBD1, it is more tunable than later models, the VTEC engine has more power to start with, and I guess they are easy to turbocharge with after market parts.
And it was featured in the movie, "Fast And Furious". You have an easily hot-rodded car in a stolen car movie, and voila.
And I guess they must be pretty easy to steal.
