I saw
instant water in a backpacking catalog once.(
ACTUAL PRODUCT!?!)
It appeared to be some sort of powdered compound that broke down when heated, leaving liquid water behind. I can understand some of the light weight powdered products backpackers seem to be so infatuated with, but I couldn't wrap my mind around this one. The powder had to weigh more than the water you would have after reconstituting!
