93 Civic CV stuck in transmission

Any of you dealt with a CV axle end stuck to the transmission on a Civic? The new CX tranny for my 93 DX has the passenger side axle end in it still, and it hasn't budged. Bent a 4' crowbar on it, tried rapping it with a mini-sledge while prying, no luck. Access isn't the greatest since I already installed it in the car Usually these things pop out easy, the old ones sure did. Any sure-fire ways to get this thing out? Next up I'm trying a big pickle fork and sledge hammer but i don't want to crack the case or something. We got a light and mirror and looked in from the drivers side and there is no visible issues (ie mangled circlip). Thanks for the help.
