All that holds it in is a "C" clip, I had one that was tough that I ended up just using a very flat pry bar on either side of the axle, if you try to pull it out from just one side then the axle gets pushed to the side and the clip catches, you need to pull is straight out, so two thin bars or large screw drivers work really well.
