The mpg calculators do work it's just that they don't compute untill the engine is turned back on. If you check your avg mpg calculator and then turn the engine off for an EOC, when you bump start it back on at the bottom of the hill the avg mpg will jump up. At least on the '08 XFE thats how it works.

Also I have noticed that my avg mpg calculator is pretty accurate, it usualy registers within 0.5 mpg below to 1.0 mpg above what my first click tank math comes out to and I always use the same station and same pump to do my fillups.

80% of the time I can figure my tank math will come out to be about 0.4 mpg less then what my onboard calculator comes up with.
