When I blocked my top grille, I add a piece of clear flimsy plastic (an old file folder) on the inside of the lower grille to the front side of the radiator.
The red hand cut arrows show the air coming in and the yellow construction paper is laying ontop of the clear plastic.
the idea is that as the air races in and hits the bottom of the radiator, it is 99% forced up, then sucked thru the radiator when the fan kicks on and as it continues up, it goes thru the factory slots to then feed air to the factory air intake that sits across the front of the top of the radiator.

now all this may be a mute point when it's 105 degrees this summer in Sacramento!!!!
