That is interesting. I saw portland maine there, it is 110 miles south from me.
Portland also has an ocean, it helps at the head height in the basement. the north shore of mass and the cape keep it almost cold like bar harbor, but they get lucky. None of us get lucky in the nort, northwest wind however.

The ground stuff I learned with a mobile home.. I can't stand the mobile home. I did learn keeping the floor two feet thick with insulation and a truck canvas (expensive, 16x24feet pieces waterproof) could actually seal out and use cold as an achor...
the basement will always be a winner for anybody. any locale, unless you are slightly retarded and build below a water table.

This year has been great. the first I recall in some time without below zero to the point of nose bleeds after 7 days of it...Ahhhh. Vacationland.
