Sorry, occupational hazard. Ultimately, what I am saying is:

A. OBD-II MPG is better as a relative scale than an absolute one because of the information available

B. Tracking your fillups against odometer is a much more accurate measurement of actual MPG

C. If you want real time MPG measurements, something like measuring every injector pulse width is probably more accurate (I see another thread on that technique) - though, it too has some limits and hurdles

D. MPG gauges may or may not be good at tweaking your driving (I think it is debatable), but when you are trying to maximize the fuel performance of the machine itself, other instrumentation, like really good wideband measurements, are probably more useful
