What are the odds of finding a good used 3 cylinder with 5MT for the Metro, including the ECU that could be necessary, pedal box, etc, on top of the odds of finding that right person to buy the 2.0/auto from the Mystique?

I can't hardly find a used Metro around here, other than in junkyards, and to buy a 3 cylinder is the same as an 8 cylinder in my junk yards - $213.97. Transmission is another $100 or so, and anything else you need (ECU, Pedal box, etc.) are just added cost.

Chances are, with the relative street prices of Zetec engines (around me) I'd only get about $200 out of that Mystique's engine, and nobody would want to buy the transmission except that one guy who just blew his tranny and can't afford one from the junkyard. Since mine comes without a warranty, I'd have to sell it for ~$100 (Since it's already pulled)

So I'd have $300, and still have to shell out money to get the engine/trans from a junkyard.

While "sell what you have - buy what you need" is the ideal option, it's not very realistic.

EDIT - I agree with Frank below. An M/T for this motor can be sourced from many places. Hopefully one of the FWD Ford guys can chime in with a list of places to find a FWD 5 speed to fit a ZETEC motor.
