That's a long way off the record, but the Shell contest is for an average speed of 15 MPH. Everybody uses pulse and glide, because an engine for a constant output that low is less efficient. The 30 mph top speed is just because they deliberately run out of gears before wind drag gets any higher. Something like this could hit 600 MPG at 60 MPH, using less than 1 HP. The new, efi Honda 50s put out 4.1 HP
