No I am not sure.

At the time I was reading Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Argosy, some car mags, and just about anything else that was interesting ,including a lot of hard back books.

My best guess would be Popular Mechanics, but I wouldn't want to bet the farm on that one.

There were hundreds or articles in Popular Mechanics and Popular Science about the future of engines and the gross inefficiencies of reciprocating IC engines. Granatelli was trying to run a turbine at Indy. Bill Lear tried a steam engine and dumped a ton of money in the effort.

I was more infatuated with human powered flight. Planes like the Gossamer Condor, Albatross, and Penguin and the Kremer Prize.
