I have the '03 XC90 and it has the 2.9L I-6 twin-turbo. It gets great hwy mileage and terrible city mileage. 32 and 15 or less, respectively. I figure the hwy is that good because I kept the speed at the RPM that the turbos are finally spooled up; around 2100RPM. That way they're adding boost but not at full-power. I notice that when I drive like that and I have the cruise activated and I encounter small inclines, the RPM doesn't change, it just increases the boost from the turbos. It's crazy to hear them spool back down once you crest the hill and the whole time the tach needle never moves. This only applies to small hills though. I wish my 98 V70 had a turbo, I really enjoy having that boost of power to trim the edge off.
