Dont double the voltage. My honda's vss is 5v (actual 4.7v), and it works fine with the smaller resistor, but i did have problems with the original 100k. What i did was measure vss voltage on both sides of the resistor, and found that the level was dropping too low, to around 2.5v. When i jacked up the car & spun the wheel, i got better pulses at slow speeds, and was losing pulses when i spun it fast.

What voltage levels does yours have? They should bounce from 0 to over 3v as the wheel turns.

When you say it gets faster as you slow down, what numbers are you getting?
