Do you have a pic of the sensor? The neutral safety switch on auto trannies is what tells the computer the gear you are in. Sounds to me like the air filter sensor to tell you it is plugged up. It has a spring and plunger to measure vacuum on the air filter side. If thats whats it is you can just plug it and not worry anymore...
