With my 4x4 4 banger EFI TB Nissan I have been able to lean out the mix by adding resistors (I use small pots) to the cylinder head temp sensor and the throttle position sensor...and can control these from the cab. Did not see any mpg gain from doing this...and do see a loss of power if leaned out too much. Fairly simple to do...IF you know what to do.

* There are some various writeups on how to do this...including one I did.

Will probably try to test this leanout with a vapor injector (FA2000 type) sometime soon.
