There is a technology triangle for tread compounds involving rolling resistance, traction, especially wet traction, and treadwear. Improving one is done at the sacrifice of one (or both) of the others. That's why you will hear lots of complaint on OE tires - tires that came from the assembly plants on new vehicles). Traction and wear complaints on OE tires are common because vehicle manufacturers generally specify low rolling resistance as part of their design specifications.
So you won't find high treadwear ratings on LRR tires (unless the traction has been sacrificed!) - and vice versa. The key is to find a tire that suits your needs within that triangle.
