to give an idea of common steel in contrast, I just got shipped a 16.9 pound sheet of 18 guage with 4ft by 25 inch dimensions. I can only assume the hood is attractive to be lightweight.

I tend to go the other direction...the car even has strut braces by factory. Taking steel away is bad news. I can get away with aluminum in some places...

I'd like to know how this stuff works, I do not know many that go the expensive route.
