I have been milling over this for a while and decided to just push my Honda antennas down into the A-pillar. Reception isn't as good in motion, but is fine when sitting still. Solves the aero issue and the RC car issue without doing much of anything to the car.
As for alternatives for you guys with the fender antennas, what's to stop you from simply removing the stand, and then relocate the entire antenna under or atop the dash?
