My username comes from the nickname of the baldie chap on the left - Alec Issigonis. Who is he ? He is from the age when one person could be said to have designed a car - he designed two significant British cars, the Morris Minor and the original Mini, some others including the BMC 1100 and 1800, and contributing bits and pieces to lots of other cars including MGs and Alvises.
Why this name ? Well I feel I have his faults including an opinion of everything, an annoying enthusiasm to share that opinion and an ability to have the wrong opinion.
Later in life he was moved aside as his cars had proved brilliant but unreliable. The replacement cars went the other way - reusing old components and old designs - the Marina. When he finally got a chance to look at it and was asked his opinion he replied in his usual style - "Thats not a car, anyone could design that."
