I like the thinking of dcb. why should shifting be difficult? There are high end sports cars that do that, and it shouldn't be a difficult calculation for a computer on the fly. The only requirement would be some switches to tell the computer the intended gear (easily done if you place the shifter in the right spot and wait for the synchros to do their thing...much faster if the computer would help out!)
