Yes, driving with load (DWL), i.e. driving at constant engine load rather than constant vehicle speed, saves gas on most kinds of cars, especially those with automatic trannies.

Just don't go so fast down the hill that you burn up your savings with the increased aerodynamic load. Descending a steep enough hill, you may want to shift to neutral and/or turn off the engine.
