Turn the AWD back on. That fuse does absolutely nothing for mileage, and there are scattered reports on other subie forums that long term use of it can damage the clutch pack. It wasn't designed to be left off for more than a few miles.
Are you keeping your speed down? What's your A/C usage? How many miles on the car? Whens the last time you had a tune up?
