Here in Cyprus, 99% of homes are equipped with one of these and I find that between Feb-Nov (sometimes Dec), you don't need any electricity.

Also , having looked at these climate charts and compared Homestead FL & Limassol, Cyprus my advice would be : pull the plug and go green, you will thank yourself later on .
