You beat me to it- that's what I was thinking, and what I'd do. The gasser makes the power and that's what you need to get moving. The electric has the efficiency and that's what you want for the "hyperextended glides" such a setup would allow.

Tempo/Topaz also has OEM AWD stuff readily available...
