Although it would be tempting to use household aluminum foil...I think it would tear too easily.

You would need something like AtticFoil!!

Prices seem reasonable...I might have to see how well that stuff would hold up as an exterior vehicle cabin cover...as long as I had some sort of soft material attached to the underside to keep it from scratching up the glass/chrome/paint...you know...as a test.
