I took the motors to a local engineering works last week and had the coms turned and the splined shafts turned down to 19mm. Saturday morning I set about milling a 6mm keyway into the shafts. Nightmare job. The shafts are glass hard. Got there in the end so i'm into scraping out the com segments and replacing the brushes.

Now, Cole, when you shift the gear and that little needle on the ammeter goes into the red and reads 2000 Amps, that's bad.
