I think ethanol is starting to get a bum rapp. If you optimize an engine to use the 105 octane that E85 gives you it can give you a significant boost in efficiency. There are a slew of what I call soft benefits to ethanol as well. What we need to do is get our ethanol from better sources and start optimizing our engines to use it. if you want to see an Ethanol industry done properly, look to Brazil, wiki is a good source for basic info.
