New Guy

Hello, my name is Dan a I am a leadfoot. I have a split personality driving disorder. Some tanks of gas are sipped through, others are guzzled.

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger Supercab 4x4 4.0L V6 Automatic

I custom tune it with SCT pro racer software and have it running on 93 octane. This motor has no knock sensor so the tuning is on the safe side.

The Scan-Gauge unit does not work with 98 4.0 Rangers due to the weird wiring that year. I can data log some parameters with the SCT software.

The P&G technique does not really work with this truck. It seems to be much happier running at a fixed throttle position. It seems to get the best mileage at 45mph@1500RPM to 50 mph and not at peak vacuum. I have the motor tuned to be kept under load but in the lower gears the TC does not seem "tight" enough.
