He may be right to an extent

there are many at least part electric cars being developed. hybrids and electric vehicles with gasoline generator back up.

I dont know if vehicles that are only electric will take off until they can give better distance or there are service stations with electric plug in or battery pack swap out.

I am sure however that some electric cars will take off like ones that can go say 50 miles on a charge and provide for backup petrol generator charging to extend the range

also if cheaper longer life battery packs are developed.

that is just my 2 cents but only time will tell for sure
