I love my old ford. I can do ANYTHING without touching the body/frame. Any problem I have can be fixed in the driveway....as my brother and I have done. You don't need anything fancy, just some regular old hand tools. A carefully used impact wrench makes some things go quicker, just don't go nuts like some do.
