Certain Garmin devices can be upgraded with an EcoRoute option. Unfortunately, my unit (250W) is not compatible, so I haven't tested it. I've heard it's not very accurate, but may help in certain situations.

The cheapest way to measure distances is Google Maps, but it doesn't take into account stop signs, traffic lights, and hills.
